Great news for coaches working with younger programs — yes, you can absolutely use an iPad as your second device on The Headset App! As long as your iPad has an internet connection, it works just like a second phone. This is especially popular for youth programs where players don’t have their own smartphones yet.
Here’s a quick step-by-step walkthrough to get you set up.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Your iPad Needs an Internet Connection
The Headset App works over the internet, so your iPad must be connected in some way. If your iPad is Wi-Fi only (no cellular plan), the easiest solution is to create a Wi-Fi Hotspot from your phone and connect your iPad to it.
To create a hotspot on most smartphones, go to Settings → Personal Hotspot (iPhone) or Settings → Hotspot & Tethering (Android) and toggle it on. Then connect your iPad to that network via Wi-Fi — simple as that.
OK, Let’s get started…
What You’ll Need
- Your primary smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- An iPad with internet access
- Two email addresses (one for each device)
Step 1: Set Up Your Primary Account on Your Phone
Download The Headset App from the App Store or Google Play on your phone and create your first account using your primary email address. This will be your main coaching account.
Step 2: Invite Your Second Email to Your Team
Once you’re logged in, head to the Team Tab and send an invite to your second email address. This creates a seat on your team for the iPad account to join.
Step 3: Set Up the iPad Account
Download The Headset App on your iPad, then create a new account using that second email address. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the pending team invite — accept it to join your team.
Step 4: Join a Channel and You’re Live
On both devices, join the same channel. That’s it — you’re up and running!
You’re All Set!
Using an iPad as a second device is a smart, affordable way to run The Headset App without needing a second phone. If you run into any trouble during setup, reach out to our support team and we’ll get you sorted out quickly.
