Section 3: Troubleshooting

What this helps you do

Often there are a few things you can try to quickly fix an issue with The Headset App.

Having issues getting pitch calls or play calls to a player’s watch? Let’s look at a few things:

Step 1: Confirm the player has been invited and joined the team.

SOLVE:

  1. In the TEAM TAB, click “+ Invite” and invite team members using an email address. This will invite them to download The Headset App on their phone and join your team.Invite The Headset App
  2. Enable “Watch” notification on your player’s user profile.  Watch
  3. Join the same channel and send plays:

You can now use the Pitch Call Menu™ to or Play Call Menu™ to send plays to your players.

Step 2: Confirm Watch is enabled on their user profile.

SOLVE:

  1. In the TEAM TAB, turn on “Watch” in the team member’s profile. Watch
  2. Join the same channel and send plays:
  3. You can now use the Pitch Call Menu™ to or Play Call Menu™ to send plays to your players
  4. Finally, make sure both users are in the same channel

Once set up, use the Pitch Call Menu™ or Play Call Menu™ to send plays.

Step 1: Disable WIFI on all devices

Disable wifi

Audio stuttering or dropouts are often caused by phones switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data.

Fix:

  • Turn off Wi-Fi on both phones
  • Use cellular data only

The Headset App works with as little as one bar of cellular service. If you have no signal, try connecting to another coach’s phone using their mobile hotspot.

Step 2: Bluetooth Range Fix

Bluetooth Range

If audio drops when players move onto the field, check the following:

  1. Use a Class 1 Bluetooth device
  2. Keep phones elevated and in clear line-of-sight

This applies to earbuds and watches. Bluetooth performs best with minimal obstructions.

The Short Answer:
Because The Headset App offers full-duplex two-way communication as a capability in our channels, it requires two phones: an audio input and audio output for each user.

Users can talk openly to all team members in the channel. Additionally, team members can send pitches or plays to other team members in the channel that will send an audio or text notification to the team member.
